Facundo Pellistri Makes Bold Move to Panathinaikos in Exciting €6 Million Transfer

Facundo Pellistri

In a notable move for both clubs and player, Facundo has officially joined Panathinaikos from Red Devil on a permanent transfer. The deal sees the Uruguayan winger head to Greece in a transfer worth €6 million, with an additional €2 million in performance-based add-ons. He has signed a four-year contract with the Greek side.

Manchester United will retain a 45% sell-on clause as part of the transfer agreement, along with a buy-back option valid for the next three years. This clause could potentially allow United to re-sign Pellistri if he excels at Panathinaikos.

The 22-year-old attacker, who previously spent the latter part of the last season on loan at Granada in Spain, where he netted twice in 15 appearances, brings experience and potential to his new team. During the 2023-24 season, Pellistri made 14 appearances for Red Devil, including a single Premier League start against Crystal Palace. His earlier loan spells with Alaves in La Liga were notable, contributing significantly with 35 appearances over two seasons.

Pellistri will now work under Diego Alonso, who took charge as Panathinaikos head coach this summer. His departure marks the thirteenth player to leave Old Trafford this summer, reflecting a period of transition for Manchester United. The move represents a significant opportunity for Pellistri to further develop his career and contribute to Panathinaikos’ ambitions in Greek football.
